Oklahoma Cedar Harvesters in the News

Trees are a top priority of Representative Richard Morrissette’s legislative agenda this year. Although they’re often planted for wind breaks and other landscaping uses, eastern red cedar trees are a nuisance and a hazard in Oklahoma. They can spread like wildfire – literally. Morrissette is proposing a bill that would help create a defined market for harvested red cedars and alleviate the growing problem.

Regional Land Services

Regional Land Services, LLC , dba Oklahoma Cedar Harvesters, is a cedar and tree clearing company managed by Bruce Brown and located in Oklahoma City , OK. The company offers its cedar clearing services throughout the state of Oklahoma.

saw1-dscf0189-cThe company utilizes the most efficient equipment available in the market place for cedar removal. This efficiency translates into more cedars cut per hour. The primary cutting machine is a large, powerful skid steer with a high revving 28” circular saw blade attached which cuts the cedars at ground level. Trees 8” to 10” in diameter or smaller are cut in seconds. Larger trees are first cut 14 feet from the ground and thereafter cut at ground level. With major cedar infestation where multiple trees are growing in close proximity to each other it is not uncommon to cut up to 100 cedars per hour. OK Cedar Eaters cuts other tree species with similar efficiency. Stacking of cut cedars is accomplished with a second skid steer with a monster grapple attached capable of grasping 4 to 6 cedar trees at a time and stacking them in piles up to 12 feet in height.  grap1-dscf0188-c
At the option of each Customer OK Cedar Eaters will chip felled cedars into mulch, mount a grinder on its skid steer which will grind each tree into place eliminating the cutting and stacking process. While these systems are more costly and less efficient than cutting and stacking, there are certain situations where these applications are appropriate.

Oklahoma Cedar Harvesters books in advance of cutting and provides free estimates to Customers without any obligations. The company’s contract is simple and provides for a budget to be established by each Customer. Oklahoma Cedar Harvesters will not exceed this budget without specific direction from the Customer. More importantly each Customer is granted the right to stop the cutting process before the cutting and stacking budget is reached. This provides each Customer total control of the process.

Price: The Oklahoma Cedar Harvesters current rates are $85 per hour per machine (minimum $500) or $1275 for both machines per 8 hour day or $6,000 per week (five 8-hour days for each machine). In addition each Customer shall reimburse Oklahoma Cedar Harvesters for all actual fuel cost incurred in the cutting and stacking process.
