Oklahoma Cedar Harvesters in the News

Trees are a top priority of Representative Richard Morrissette’s legislative agenda this year. Although they’re often planted for wind breaks and other landscaping uses, eastern red cedar trees are a nuisance and a hazard in Oklahoma. They can spread like wildfire – literally. Morrissette is proposing a bill that would help create a defined market for harvested red cedars and alleviate the growing problem.

REGIONAL LAND SERVICES

CONTRACT

 

 

This contract is entered into this _____ day of _____________, 20____ by and between Regional Land Services (RLS) and ___________________________(customer). RLS hereby agrees to cut all cedars and other designated trees existing on Customer’s property (except those clearly marked by customer to be retained). This property consists of _____ acres located at_____________________ in _____________ county , Oklahoma. Skid steer machines with rotary saws are used to cut trees at ground or rock level and stack them with grapples in piles. These pile locations will be chosen by RLS if Customer does not designate. Any trees felled by RLS may be removed by RLS at its expense any time during or after the work hereunder is completed until the tree piles are burned or removed by Customer.

 

Customer shall pay RLS $ 700 per 8 hour day for cutting and $575 per 8 hour day for stacking. In addition, Customer shall reimburse RLS for all fuel costs used by the machines in the cutting and/or stacking process. RLS will typically cut between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday, weather, health and equipment permitting, and will cut and stack steadily with occasional breaks. At the option of RLS, longer hours or Sunday work may occur. The Customer is charged from the time a crew arrives at the property until it leaves each day. No time off the clock is made for fueling, cleaning or changing blades. Downtime for repairs is not charged.

 

Customer has established a budget of $___________ not including fuel costs for the work to be undertaken by RLS under this contract. RLS’ charges before fuel charges will not exceed this budget unless so directed by Customer. Customer is hereby granted the right to cause RLS to cease work at any time prior to the budget being reached. In that event the only charges to be paid by Customer will be for the time actually worked by RLS.

 

Customer shall pay any amounts due RLS by check or cash by noon on each Friday, and on the day of completion of the job.

Should payment not be received at the designated time, work will stop until said payment is received.
